Clean Beauty With Maëlle

After learning more about the unregulated, toxic ingredients in common beauty products, I started to make the switch to clean beauty. Switching my products hasn't been easy, but I've finally found find safe alternatives to everything!

Most of the makeup I use these days are from Maëlle, a Chicago-based, clean and cruelty-free beauty company.

Take $10 ff your first purchase!

I've teamed up with Maëlle, to give you $10 off so you can try their clean beauty and skincare. Enter the promo code “lizzy10” (case sensitive) at checkout. This is a great excuse to try some of their best-selling products (also one of my faves) like their mascara for only $10 instead of $20!

Clean and Cruelty-Free Beauty by Maëlle

Companies like Maëlle are making it easier for people like you and me to avoid potential harmful beauty products. Their products are free from some of the worst offenders such as parabens, SLS, and phthalates. Plus their products are dermatologically tested.

Additionally, the products are cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny certified. Leaping Bunny is an internationally recognized standard for non-animal tested products.

Why Clean Beauty Matters

I won't get into all the dirty details about why people are ditching their conventional makeup for safer alternatives in this post.

The gist is that the United States is extremely under-regulated when it comes to what goes into personal care products -- and as a result, some ingredients pose serious health concerns.

Researchers say the chemicals found in many conventional beauty products may cause cancer, disrupt hormones, compromise the immune system, and even cause birth defects. Pretty scary!

My Favorite Maëlle Products Right Now

Sunkissed Bronzer

This is one of my favorite bronzers because it is so versatile! I see it as a 4-in-1. With five different shades in the compact, you can use them individually or together as a bronzer, highlighter, blush, or eyeshadow. The colors blend beautifully for a sun-kissed glow with a very subtle shimmer. This is great for travel because of all its uses!

Above & Beyond Mascara

I have searched far and wide for a great mascara to replace my conventional one. Maëlle's Above and Beyond Mascara was the answer! It has a curved brush and creates thick, beautiful lashes. I LOVE this product and I'm ordering more today!

Cheeky Blush

I often mix colors, which is why I think this multi-color blush is awesome. You can blend the shades to create a custom color for your current skin tone. Because of the versatility, this compact can take you through every season.

Brow Stylist

I didn't think to fill in my brows until after college, but whoa, what a difference it makes! This all-in-one brow kit includes two brow shades, a highlighter, and wax to keep everything in place. Plus, it includes all the tools you need in a tiny compact.

Eyeshadow

Most days I opt for a natural matte eyeshadow with a little shimmer beneath my brow, but some days I want more shimmer or a smokey eye. This Dusk-to-dawn palette gives me options! The shadows are highly pigmented and blend beautifully.

Clearly Brilliant Tinted Lips

This lip crayon comes in several colors, but my favorite is berry. It's light-weight and sheer, and made with shea butter so its moisturizing too!

If you are ready to transition to clean and/or cruelty-free beauty, this is a great place to start. I'd recommend choosing a product that you are nearly out of, such as blush, and replace it with a clean alternative.

I was so happy to show Theo some of Chicago’s gems! 💎 Personally, I won’t be rushing back to anything indoors, but I’m glad to see things reopening and hope it can be done safely. By the way, @msichicago is expected to reopen this summer and you can get tickets now for @shedd_aquarium and @lincolnparkzoo. 🦥 What will you do now that we’re in stage four?

Today is the first time I left my baby with a sitter and the longest time I have been away from him. 😭 He is in good hands though. Poor guy hardly knows anyone but Kam and me. We kept him to ourselves the first 8 weeks of his life because we were scared of the flu. Then as soon as we felt ready to share him, Coronavirus hit! 🤦‍♀️
