Best Chicago Races of 2019:
1. Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle, 8K – March 24, 2019
Chicago doesn’t mess around when it comes to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, and the Shamrock Shuffle keeps the celebration going strong! This race starts and ends at Grant Park and weaves through downtown. Don’t forget to get decked out in green! Register for the Shamrock Shuffle here.
2. Chi-Town Half Marathon & 10K – April 6, 2019
Run along the lakefront and Lincoln Park in this chip-timed half marathon 10K. Pacers run the course with you to help you reach your goal, and a big party with live music takes place at the finish line.
3. Wintrust Lakefront 10-miler & 5K – April 13, 2019
A favorite race among Chicago runners, this race takes you through Lincoln Park and along parts of the lakefront. Show off your metal at a celebration with live music and plenty of Michelob Ultra beer after the run. Register for the Lakefront 10-miler here.
4. Byline Bank Chicago Spring Half Marathon & 10K - May 19, 2019
This race is the best way to wave goodbye to winter and kickstart spring the right way! Join thousands of other runners in this lakefront race which ends with a breakfast, Athletico recovery zone, spring flowers, a spring market, and Lagunitas beer garden, and live music. Register for the Chicago Spring Half Marathon here.
5. Soldier Field 10 -May 25, 2019
10 miles is a good distance for casual runners who want a challenge but don’t want to train extensively for a full or half marathon. The course takes you along Lake Shore Drive, and ends with a post-race party at Soldier Field. Proceeds benefit members of the military, veterans, and their families. Register for the Soldier Field 10 mile here.
6. Chicago Half Marathon, 5K - September 29, 2019
Many runners would consider this half marathon as one of the best Chicago races. Lake Shore Drive shuts down to make room for more than ten thousand runners. It starts South of Museum campus and goes through Hyde Park - which is gorgeous! Register for the Chicago Half Marathon here.
7. Bank of America Chicago Marathon - October 13, 2019
If you can get your hands on a bib (and you are up for the challenge of 26.2 miles) this race would be an awesome experience. People from 50 states and 100 countries come to Chicago to run through downtown and along the lakefront.
Good luck with your fitness goals this year! If you plan to train for one of these Chicago races, check out one of my favorite running routes in Chicago.
